Yes, it’s true. Effective September 15, 2023 you can no longer purchase a copy of ACT! Pro. I’ve had no less than 3 dozen phone calls in the last 3 weeks from ACT! Pro users expressing their dismay, concern and/or outrage. And they all have the same questions:
- Where can I get a copy of ACT! Pro? Answer: you can’t.
- What product can you recommend that won’t require me to pay year after year? Answer: I don’t know of one.
- What product can you recommend that I can install on my machine rather than being “in the clouds?” Answer: I don’t know of one.
This is often accompanied by rants – and some rather colorful language. Hey folks: don’t shoot the messenger! However, I have found one product that is extremely functional and cheap: ZOHO’s Bigin product. And, for you “financially sensitive” ACT! Pro users the cost of ZOHO Bigin is $9/month or a mere $84/year when paid in advance. Considering ACT! v24 Pro’s retail price of $449 that works out to over 5 years of ACT! Pro! Or, if your needs are super simple and you have less than 500 contacts there is a free edition of ZOHO Bigin.
Bigin might be cheap but its feature set is impressive. And, in my opinion, much more robust than ACT! Pro or even Act! Premium:
- Multiple pipelines for customer operations
- Built in telephony
- Workflow automation
- Real-time notifications
- Fully mobile
- Customizable Dashboards
- GSuite, Office 365 and Twitter integration
