Act! Premium Cloud – How It Differs From Desktop

act cloudMany of my long time Act users want to transition to Act! Premium Cloud but wonder how it differs from Act Pro or Act Premium desktop. Act! CRM Cloud is the web-based version of the Act!. It offers most all the features and functionalities of the traditional desktop software, but with the added advantage of being accessible from anywhere that you have an internet connection. This makes it ideal for companies with remote users. The cloud version of Act! also eliminates the need for businesses to maintain and manage their own IT infrastructure, as all data and software are stored and maintained by Act! on secure servers. With the Act! CRM Cloud, businesses can still use Act! without having to worry about technical issues or data security.

Although Act Premium Cloud contains most of the same functionality as does Act Premium, there are a few differences. For example, you can’t create an Activity Series or make edit Contact Access for multiple contacts. You also can’t use the ActDiag utility to run reports on the structure of your database. For that reason you might want to add the database synchronization service to Act Premium Cloud. ACT! database synchronization is the process of creating a desktop “remote” database  that will send and receive changes to and from the cloud. The Admin user can use the remote database on their desktop to make use of the Act features they need, while other users can continue to rely on the web version.

Unfortunately, you are experiencing a “bug.” And so it goes with Act. They appear to fix 2 things and break 4 others. Hopefully this is a temporary problem and you’ll be able to perform an Act export again before too long!

I’m using the Cloud version of Act. When I try to export to Excel every single contact exports. If I try to export only a Lookup I get an error message and the export fails. Can you help?
