Three years ago in June, 2020 I wrote a post about the discontinuation of Act Pro. Act Pro v22 was “no longer being supported” and there would not be an Act v23 Pro. Fast forward a few months and Act Pro v24 was released in October, 2021.
Act Premium v25 was released; however, there was no mention of Act Pro v25. I guess it is indeed true that history repeats itself! After 36 years I’d say that ACT! Pro has had a pretty good run. And who knows? Maybe we’ll see an Act Pro v26. Or not!
What does the Act Pro discontinuation mean for you?
- You will only be able to purchase ACT! v25 Premium as annual subscription. PLEASE NOTE: You can still install ACT! on your own computer; it does NOT have to be “hosted in the clouds.”
- If you are using ACT Pro you can no longer purchase additional licenses, and Swiftpage will not provide support or future updates.
- Tech Benders will continue to provide support for ALL Act! Versions. PLEASE NOTE: if your issue is based on a licensing and/or compatibility issue there is nothing we can do to help.
Options for Act Pro Users:
- ACT v24 Premium for Desktop: $450/year: This option includes support, all new versions, a 2,500 email/month emarketing account, a phone app and requires a yearly renewal.
- ACT Premium Cloud: $360/year: Please click HERE for a trial. This option includes support, the latest Act version, hosting, a phone app, a 2,500 email/month emarketing account and requires a yearly renewal.
- Switch to another CRM product: I recommend one of the Zoho family of products. They are less expensive than Act and include more functionality. Just remember that you will have to pay to convert your database AND you will have to take the time to learn something new.
Officially, Swiftpage will continue to “support” Act v24 Pro through 7/31/24. However, this date is subject to change. However, if you are using Act V24 Pro you can continue to use it as long as it continues to work.
As always, if you purchase your software through Tech Benders, you’ll receive free installation and/or upgrade instructions tailored to your current version. If you purchase a Premium subscription you will also receive discounted pricing, free email support and several free instructional training videos each year.
Please let me know if I can help you in any way!
We only have 5 users of ACT old version on premise version. Do you sell a cost effective ACT version for just a 5 users?
Hi Ken, I’m not really sure what you mean by “inexpensive.”
Here are your options:
• Act! Pro: $449.99/user It is on premise. It doesn’t include support but once you make your purchase send me proof of payment (and your current version of Act!) I will send you upgrade instructions. You can purchase it HERE. If you have any problems with the payment link let me know and I’ll place the order manually. However, this product is only available through 9/15/23!
• Act! Premium Desktop: $270/user. This is also on premise and includes support and an eMarketing Account. However, you will pay an annual renewal. This pricing is only available through 9/15/23!
• Act Premium Cloud: $270/user. This is a cloud-based product and includes support and an eMarketing Account. However, you will pay an annual renewal. This pricing is only available through 9/15/23!
Let me know what else you need and I’ll be happy to help!
We use ACT! v21 Pro as a static database. We do not share it or use it to contact clients. We use it strictly as a database to add notes and contact information on business and personal levels. What do you suggest as a very low-cost alternative? It is working fine on my wife’s current computer but see an issue when she needs to upgrade her computer. What do you recommend for us if ACT! is going to go away?
Howard,
Howard, Act! is not going away. The Pro/Perpetual licenses have gone away which means all new versions of Act! are available per subscription only. If you are adamantly opposed to paying an annual subscription you could use Outlook or spreadsheets provided you don’t need Notes. If you need Notes you could use an entry level product like Zoho Bigin.
Hello, I have Sage ACT! Pro 20212, what options do I have in order to continue running it?
I think you have a typo; did you mean Act 2012?
Moving your data to a new computer is not an issue. The issue you will have is moving Act v2012 to a new Computer. First of all, I will assume that your new computer will have Windows 11 and and v2012 is too old to work in that environment. Secondly, the license you have for Act v2012 most probably does NOT start with the letter “A” which means even if you could install Act v17 you won’t be able to register it.
You have 4 choices that I can think of:
• Move to Act Premium Desktop which requires an annual subscription but is currently on sale.
• Move to Act Premium Cloud which also requires an annual subscription but is $90/year less expensive than the desktop product
• Move to a less expensive product like Zoho; however, you will have to learn something new AND pay to convert your data is you want all of your Act data including the NOTES.
• Stop using a CRM system and start using a rolodex.
