The Original Act! Software User’s Group in Boca Raton
I started the Act! Software Users Group in person in my home in Boca Raton, Fl. These face-to-face meetings were usually made up of approximately 25 to 50 “Act! fanatics” who were interested in learning more about the Act! software while they enjoyed each other’s company and tasty goodies.
Although I enjoyed the personal interaction with Act! Users, last year I decided to move the Users Group to a virtual location for several different reasons:
- Virtual meetings allow me to invite a wider variety of speakers from throughout the US.
- Virtual meetings are more convenient for users as they can attend the meetings from any location.
- By spending less time dragging equipment around, I have more time to focus on the content that will benefit the attendees.
Virtual Act! User’s Group Response
I have experienced a tremendous response to the Virtual Act! Users Group. The process of attending one of these virtual meetings is very easy. Attendees log into the meeting from their computers and listen to the presentation using the conference call number that I provide. At the end of each meeting, I try to give ample time for general questions. I think being able to ask questions is the favorite part of most of the Act! users who attend the meetings.
Interesting Act! User’s Group Topics
I always try to come up with meeting topics that would be of interest for the Act! population. More recent topics have included linking Act! to a PDA. Another one is upgrading to a newer version of Act! and finally, methods for keeping your Act! information up to date.
