There’s no better way to start your day than to jump out of bed on a beautiful summer’s day, grab your morning coffee, fire up Act – and see a rather ominous message pop up on the screen telling you that the Act 2024 software you just purchased and/or installed, is being retired. Apparently, at least according to the number of panicked emails and phone calls I received, not everyone was thrilled to see this message.
Fear not, users of Act 2024, you belong to a class of Act users that I call the “lucky ones.” If you have Act 2024 Pro you can pat yourself on the back. You had the foresight to purchase the last perpetual version of Act. There are no more copies to be had. Your version will work with Windows 10 and Windows 11. Your version installs SQL 2019. Go back and enjoy your coffee or, better yet, go buy a lottery ticket. So what does this message mean? Quite simply, Act will no longer be updated after August 31, 2024 and you won’t be able to call in to Act support for help. Breathe a big sigh of relief. If you have SQL 2019 you are good to go. If you have SQL 2014 simply uninstall both Act and SQL. Need support? We’re always here to help you; you are NOT alone.
If you have Act 2024 Desktop subscription you are in an even better scenario. You are entitled to Act 2025 and even Act 2026 when in comes out in August, 2024 at no extra charge. And you will still have Act support. Plus, if you purchased Act from Tech Benders, you have free email support. In your case I’d go out and purchase several lottery tickets!

I’m running Act Pro 24 and have just upgraded to Windows 11. While I understand that Act Pro 24 is compatible with Windows 11 and that the license is good in perpetuity is there a chance that it won’t be compatible versions of Windows beyond Windows 11?
Hi John,
Support for Act Pro v24 will stop on 8/31/24. That means no new updates or patches will be created for it. So yes, that means it will not be compatible with future versions of Windows or Outlook that come out after 8/31.
