I used act for 30+ yrs up to Act! Pro Version 19.2.146.0, Update 5. I use it mostly for family and friends matters but it contains records of past business dealings and a few future dealings.
I failed to get outlook 2019 to work so I got 2013 recently.
But today it wont print ! Not list ( not any) from screen to show my wife who she and I write to! It wont find past sent docs. It wont let me create new doc template to send happy xmas letters!
My HP printer does work fine with outlook.
Ideally I would not go to expense of moving – but can you pls show me which other one best suits my needs.. or if I am of too low value – is there an ACT 19 resource you can suggest ideally for UK users?
Hi Mark,
You have a lot of questions here. You aren’t saying what or where you are trying to print but your issues probably revolve around trying to use Outlook 2019 with an incompatible Act Pro v19. Once cure would be to reinstall Act; part of that process searches for your Outlook version and would most probably reestablish the connectivity to Office 2013. However, because you might not be able to reregister Act after the installation I don’t feel comfortable offering you assistance.
I recently had to replace my hard drive on my HP Envoy Desk Top PC I’ve reloaded the version of ACT (PRO 19) from the download wizard and the tech who installed my new hard drive moved ACT to my desktop. When I attempt to RESTORE my data base (using option RESTORE AS) it stops after a few moments and gives me the message that the user id and pw are invalid. They are the only user id and pw I have. I spoke to support at ACT and essentially what they are telling me is that I need to upgrade (code for buy our latest program) in order to get my data base operable again. That beacuse my version 19 is outdated IT CANNOT BE RESTORED ON MY NEW HARD DRIVE. I don’t believe that. I use my ACT data base as a glorified rolodex. I’m not actively marketing as I am closing in on 65 yr old. However, I still want my contacts and the information I’ve posted all these years. What can you tell me? Thank you.
Hi Brian,
I can tell you two things:
1. If you installed Windows 11 on your new hard drive then yes, it will be hard to restore Act 19 on a newer operating system
2. EVERY database has a user name and password. You just might not know what it is, or it might be blank. You can try some of the solutions that I offered in this article about Act passwords.
If none of those options work then we can crack your password for you. Call Kim at 561.470.5450 x2 and she’ll be able to do it. Our standard rate of $100 will apply.
