ACT! Pro – It’s b-a-a-a-a-ack!
Just in time for Halloween ACT! Pro is back – for a short time only. Yes, the product that you were told had been discontinued and been undiscontinued. Is that even a word?
In any event you can make your purchase of ACT! Pro v22 until Halloween Eve (October 30th, 2020) for a mere $319.99. I say “mere” at this is supposedly a $30 savings. I am hearing that Pro will also be available during the Black Friday weekend.
And yes, this is a “one time perpetual” purchase. And no, it does NOT include any support although I will send you installation instructions.
Make sure you let me know prior to 10/30/20 is you would like to purchase a copy; this “trick or treat” will be going away. At least for now!
I’m doing research and came across your name. I have used ACT desktop for about 20 years until this year. I needed a new computer, went to download my old ACT 2012 disc and it wouldn’t load past the SQL part of the download. So I went back to my old laptop and uploaded my back up to ACT cloud for the free version and then accessed it through my new computer. You would think I would be fine for the $188/yr fee…but I’m not happy with the new set up. I don’t like having to wait for internet to access and I really liked having the desktop version. Plus if I’m onsite w/a client and don’t have internet access I can’t get to my ACT. I called sales at ACT and they told me that it’s $450 per year for the desktop version. It’s just me…I don’t even need ACT most likely. I just like being able to schedule contacts within my calendar and take notes. Do you have any other potential solutions that my ACT cloud database would convert to? An older version of ACT I could buy? I don’t really know what’s out there so I’m open to suggestions. Thank you in advance.
Hi Eric,
Thanks for stopping by Tech Benders!
One would think a call to Act sales would get you the answers you need but that’s ok; I’m here to help.
First of all, Act 2012 won’t work on a new machine; even if you got it installed you would not be able to register it. Period.
I am confused by the $188 you are paying. Sounds like you have the “Act Essentials” product ($15/month). That is a very limited product; I consider it to be more of a phone app and not Act. I’m also confused by the $450 pricing you were quoted for the Premium subscription; right now it’s on sale for $315/year but only through 4/30/21.
Be careful about purchasing “older versions” of Act; if it’s prior to v18 you won’t be able to register so you would be throwing away your money. And, if the software is “gently used” the Act activation limits you to two registrations so you might find that even newer copies won’t activate.
I can still get copies of Act Pro v22 which was the last version of Act Pro to be released. It is considered to be a discontinued product and I don’t advise it if you are using Office 365 and want to integrate Office (Outlook, Word or Excel) to Act.

I have been a user of Act! Pro version 16 for years. I am looking to purchase Act! without the subscription and put it on my laptop and transfer the old Act! 16 files to the newer version.
Do you sell the ‘newer’ version without a subscription, for a one-time purchase?
Yes, I can get you Act! Pro v22; the price is $349.95 although I hear the price is going up really soon.
A few things to know about Pro:
• The product was officially discontinued in June, 2020
• It does not include any support from Swiftpage; we offer fee-based support for $150/hour and will send you installation instructions.
• If you want to share your database in the future you will not be able to get additional licenses
• If you want to connect to Office for Outlook, Word or Excel make sure you do not have Office 365.

I am a long-time ACT! User currently running Act! Pro Version 20.1.120.0, Update 9. It was working fine so I never availed myself of the upgrades to v21 or v22. My current computer is a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 that has developed a severe battery swelling problem and needs to be retired. I am planning on transferring everything to a Microsoft Surface Book 2 but I don’t have any install disks (all updates have been done via downloads). How do I transfer the program and the database to my new computer?
Hi Scott,
One of the benefits of purchasing your Act software from Tech Benders is that we keep your license number and appropriate download links on file FOREVER. I doubt that you had the install disks for v20; it was sold as a download. If you call Swiftpage they might be willing to help you. If that doesn’t work I do have a few copies of Act v22 Pro for sale at $369.99. Just remember that it is a discontinued product. I’ll send you installation instructions to get your database from your old machine but if you have Office 365 and want to integrate it to Act for email, spreadsheets or templates this product would not be a good fit for you. Users of Office 365 are better off with an Act Premium subscription which I am currently selling for $290/year. Premium includes support and updates.
