Kim
Hi, my name is Kim and I like to fix things and help people. Here is my history…
I grew up in Northern California’s east bay area. I attended DeVry Institute of Technology, learning how all the electronic parts work, I graduated with a 3.83 GPA and honors. I started at the bottom of an assembly line for airplane guidance power-supplies and worked my way up to being one of the 2 quality assurance testers. Looking for something more challenging, I began working with a hardware guru in Northern California who introduced me to computer hardware and DOS. I started working with Real Estate agents in Southern California, teaching them various programs and setting up their new computers or fixing their existing ones. For some of my clients this was their very first experience with a computer; for me, working with someone who had never touched a computer yet wanted to learn was the best part of my job. I have a lot of patience and was able to help get beginners over their fears and onto learning. Sometimes I would train up to 50 people at a time using an overhead projector.
I relocated back to Northern California and ended up working for Symantec on their database program, Q&A. That was fun and I quickly worked my way up to 2nd level support and started performing database repairs. I was active in helping Symantec pick Eugene, Oregon as the place to relocate their technical support and customer service departments for all of their products. I even helped move the old BBS (Bulletin Board Services used before chat rooms were popular) hardware and Q&A support to Eugene.
ACT! was purchased by Symantec and joined us in the Eugene Support Center. I helped to combine the repair service departments for the various Symantec products. We offered Data Repair Services for: ACT!, Q&A, hard-drive recovery for PC’s and Mac’s, Disklock removals, and even did backup restorations all in one department. I went on maternity leave for my 1st child (a girl) and Symantec closed down the Data Repair Services department and sold ACT!. However, I stayed with Symantec providing support for WinFax, NAV, and virus removal. I worked for Symantec for almost 11 years.
I then went to work for Sage and did ACT! Technical Support. I quickly worked my way up to 2nd level support and then into ACT! Database Services. Ironically, I went on maternity leave for my 2nd child (a boy), and Sage decided to close the ACT! support center in Eugene. Makes me wonder what will happen if I have a third child! I love Eugene – as does my man (“the Love of my Life”) and we don’t want to relocate. I knew Roy from our days at both Symantec and Sage and decided that working at Tech Benders would be both challenging and fun.
I’m helping Roy and Karen provide excellent service to those in need! If you'd like an estimate on our ACT Database Repair service, click here.
